OFFICER INVOLVED
Over the course of 2 years, a police officer turned first-time filmmaker and his wife traveled the United States and brought together experts and current/former law-enforcement officers in an effort to explore the highly secretive, often misunderstood, and socially taboo topic of what the officer experiences in the wake of an officer-involved shooting. What they found was a profound statement on the sheer humanity of the men and women who make these split-second decisions and then enter into an emotionally charged series of events and questions.  Featuring an exclusive interview with Officer Stephen Roach, whose shooting of an unarmed teenager in 2001 led to the Cincinnati riots.

OFFICER INVOLVED SCREENING TOUR
This film and project were a unique undertaking from day one. Having no sponsors, grants, or organizational backing, all of the work involved in bringing this project together was enabled by those who cared passionately about the topic. Just under a third of our production budget came from strangers who believed in our work. When it was finished, the director took a leave of absence from his job as a full-time police officer and worked with departments and organizations across the country, screening the film and conducting discussions on contemporary American policing, showing the film over 85-times coast to coast. Thousands of people have seen and been effected by the film and discussion, and hundreds of thousands more now have the ability to be impacted by the DVD.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

"...an illumination of the humanity of law enforcement officers."
Daniel P. Finney, The Des Moines Register

"The psychological, emotional and personal state of officers following the critical moments of a shooting is something that needs recognition to help ignite support, promote empathy and to generally expose the multifarious nature of shootings. Seeing inside the mind of an officer- motivation, devastation, fear, loss and so much more- provided a complexity to the issue that is so rarely explored, a feat that was accomplished with grace, intelligence, dedication and heart."
Donna K., True/False Film Festival

"All levels of law enforcement and the public should see this."
Police Recruit, Michigan

"Very well done. So great to see the good side of the bad."
Civilian, Peel Ontario

"...Shaver has captured the hearts of these peacekeepers..."
Jeff Hutton, Times-Republican

"Unfortunately, the possibility of being involved in a deadly use of force situation for police is real. This film helped us and our families understand what an officer might experience and feel in the hours, days, months and years after an officer involved shooting. In the case we ever have another officer involved shooting, we are now better prepared to support the officer mentally and emotionally in the aftermath. "
-Wausau WI Police Department

"This is a documentary that you won't want to miss!"
-Cedar Hill TX Police Department

"I have been a police officer for nearly a quarter of a century, raising a family while working in the noble profession. I had my 18 year old son with me during the screening. He has in no way led a sheltered life, I have prepared him as well as my other two sons for the worst in my job. My entire family is aware of the hazards of the law enforcement profession, having often talked about the incidents I have been involved in, coming home injured, returning to works days after a violent encounter or horrific event. The most sobering moment for me concerning this screening was on the drive home, I asked my son what he thought about the film and he simply said, I hope it opens peoples eyes about the things that police officers have to deal with, I hope that the public feels differently about police officers and the things they have to do to survive."
-Police Chief, Florida
